Fixed Asset Accountant

We are looking for a Fixed Asset Accountant to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. In this Contract-to-permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in managing financial activities related to fixed assets, lease accounting, and sales and use tax compliance. This role requires precision, organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments to ensure adherence to accounting standards and company policies.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain accurate records of fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, disposals, and depreciation in the subledger.
• Reconcile fixed asset subledger accounts with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
• Monitor construction-in-progress activities to ensure timely capitalization and compliance with company policies.
• Assist in preparing audit schedules and support external auditors during inquiries.
• Manage lease schedules, ensuring compliance with ASC 842 regulations and proper documentation of lease terms.
• Prepare journal entries related to lease liabilities and right-of-use assets, ensuring accurate reporting.
• File and remit multi-state sales and use tax returns while resolving discrepancies and maintaining exemption certificates.
• Support external audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities related to sales and use tax.
• Collaborate with the operations and legal teams to identify new leases and amendments.
• Assist in analyzing lease vs. buy options and contribute to lease-related financial disclosures.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in fixed asset and lease accounting or a similar role.
• Proficiency in GAAP accounting principles, including ASC 842 and ASC 360.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Experience with fixed asset depreciation, journal entries, and month-end close processes.
• Knowledge of Lease Accelerator software is preferred.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
