Data Scientist

A leading consumer technology company is seeking a Contract Data Scientist to join its Ecommerce Product Analytics team for a 6-month engagement. This role supports data-driven decision-making by analyzing user behavior, designing and interpreting A/B tests, and uncovering insights that improve user experience and conversion.

You’ll collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define success metrics, monitor KPIs, and translate findings into actionable recommendations. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Product Analytics.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform behavioral and funnel analysis to identify user patterns
• Design and interpret A/B tests and experiments
• Build and maintain dashboards using Looker
• Identify and resolve data quality issues
• Present insights through clear, compelling business storytelling
• Lead weekly/monthly reporting and stakeholder update calls

Team & Work Environment

• Embedded in the Product Analytics Team within the Ecommerce vertical
• High interaction with product owners, engineers, and senior stakeholders
• Hybrid work model: 3 days onsite at the New York HQ
• Role covers maternity leave with planned overlap for smooth handoff
• Extension possible based on performance and business needs

Ideal Candidate Profile

• 2–4 years of experience in eCommerce analytics
• Strong SQL skills (2–4 years)
• Experience with Looker and Amplitude
• Background in hardware-focused ecommerce platforms (e.g., Amazon, eBay)
• Python knowledge is a plus
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, but relevant experience accepted
