Controller

Our client is creating a new Controller position to support the long-term succession of their highly respected CFO with over 30 years of tenure who is planning for retirement. This role is designed for a technically strong, forward-looking accounting leader who wants the time, mentorship, and exposure needed to grow into a future executive finance role.

The Controller will partner closely with the CFO, taking increasing ownership of accounting operations, financial reporting, and leadership responsibilities over time, with a clear path toward broader financial leadership.

Controller Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close
• Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements and management reporting
• Partner closely with the CFO on financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
• Assume increasing responsibility for areas historically managed by the CFO to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer
• Lead and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and financial processes
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
• Serve as a key liaison to external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Identify and implement systems and process improvements to support scalability

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA license and public accounting experience
• Strong technical accounting and financial reporting expertise
• Leadership style centered on collaboration, mentorship, and long-term team development
