Public Senior Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to financial processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance during a critical period. Ideal candidates will possess strong accounting expertise and thrive in a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage month-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.

• Prepare and post journal entries while adhering to company policies.

• Conduct account reconciliations to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.

• Perform bank reconciliations to ensure alignment between financial records and statements.

• Handle accruals and other adjustments to maintain accurate financial data.

• Support financial audits by preparing necessary documentation and reports.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless communication and workflow.

• Assist in transitioning information back to the returning employee after maternity leave.

• Contribute to the onboarding process for new client contracts, ensuring smooth financial operations.

• Proven experience in accounting, including month-end close and general ledger maintenance.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.
• Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and accrual accounting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities for collaborating across departments.
• Working knowledge of accounting software and tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
