Our growing $150 million Construction Client is looking to hire a Controller with strong Construction Industry background experience. Construction Industry is a MUST!!!
The Controller will be responsible for leading, planning, and overseeing all accounting operations and related activities within the construction company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the Accounting Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll processing for a workforce of more than 100 employees.
- Manage the monthly invoicing process and provide leadership for project accountants.
- Implement and monitor training initiatives; assess and address the training needs of department staff.
- Oversee the CMIC accounting system and coordinate with external consultants.
- Coordinate and manage the company’s annual audit in collaboration with the CPA firm.
Primary Duties:
- Maintain updated documentation of accounting policies and procedures, ensuring robust controls are in place to minimize transaction risks.
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP or international reporting standards.
- Advise management on key performance benchmarks to support company goals.
- Lead the development of annual budgets and forecasts, alerting management to significant variances.
- Provide in-depth financial analysis, focusing on capital expenditures, pricing strategies, and contractual negotiations.
- Work directly with external auditors, preparing and providing all necessary documentation for annual reviews.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual financial reports as required.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.
- Support the annual insurance renewal process and perform other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate proficiency in payroll operations, especially with Paylocity, Rippling, or similar platforms.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of Construction and work-in-process accounting and financial statement preparation.
- Understanding of construction-related insurance coverages and their application to job costing.
- Proven management and team leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong organizational and time management capabilities.
- Proficiency with the CMIC accounting system, ACR reporting, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- Three to five years of relevant accounting experience in the construction industry required.
Salary : $150,000 - $175,000
