Contract Specialist

A start-up non-profit organization in the Raleigh, NC area is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Contract Specialist for a contract position with the potential to convert to a permanent role. If you have over 5 years of experience in managing service contracts, a knack for vendor negotiations, and top-notch Excel skills, we want to hear from you! This role does have the ability to be remote. 

Responsibilities

As the Contract Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in the non-profit’s operations by ensuring efficient and cost-effective contracting and procurement processes, as well as legal compliance. Key responsibilities include:

• Contract Lifecycle Oversight: Oversee the entire lifecycle of contracts, from negotiation to execution and renewal, ensuring compliance with legal and financial standards.
• Financial Management: Manage and monitor the financial terms of contracts, ensuring accuracy in pricing, payment terms, and deliverables to align with organizational goals.
• Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with the finance team and department leaders to support budget planning, ensuring contracts align with financial projections and addressing any financial discrepancies or issues.
• Vendor Negotiations: Lead communications with vendors to secure favorable terms, identify cost savings, and foster strong partnerships.
• Financial Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage financial risks associated with contracts, ensuring that effective risk mitigation strategies are implemented to protect the organization’s interests.
• Process Improvement: Implement and streamline financial processes and systems to improve operational efficiency and reduce errors in contract management.
• Legal and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure contracts adhere to internal policies and external regulations while preparing for audits and promptly addressing any identified issues

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience managing service contracts, preferably in a non-profit or start-up environment.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, data analysis).
• Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and written communication abilities to effectively negotiate, present findings, and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
• Procurement Knowledge: Strong background in vendor management and procurement processes, including an understanding of market trends.
• Legal Compliance: Familiarity with contract law and the ability to ensure adherence to all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
• Detail-Oriented: High attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Problem Solver: Demonstrated ability to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement solutions proactively.
