CFO

Our client is seeking an accomplished Chief Financial Officer with a strong governmental accounting and finance background to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s financial operations. In addition to salary, the total compensation package for this CFO role offers a defined pension. This CFO will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and governing bodies, ensuring fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term financial sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership, partnering with executive leadership and governing authorities to support organizational goals
• Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, treasury, and internal controls
• Lead the preparation and management of annual operating and capital budgets in accordance with governmental accounting standards
• Ensure compliance with GASB, federal, state, and local regulations, grant requirements, and funding restrictions
• Oversee audit activities, including preparation of financial statements and coordination with external auditors
• Manage cash flow, investments, debt, and long-term financial planning initiatives
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to boards, committees, and stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner
• Oversee grants management, including financial reporting, compliance, and reimbursement processes
• Develop and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred
• Progressive finance leadership experience in organizations with complex billing, reimbursement, or revenue recognition models
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-payer, grant-funded, cost-based, or contract-driven billing environments
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial reporting, and compliance
• Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with operations, compliance, and leadership
• Hands-on leader comfortable operating at both strategic and detailed levels
• Strong analytical, communication, and process improvement skills
