What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer position at Robert Half?
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process. You will review proposals, negotiate prices, select the best suppliers, analyze trends, follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, and maintain necessary records.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end to end purchasing process for packaging materials, MRO supplies, and IT equipment/services, including requisition review, sourcing, competitive bidding, supplier selection, negotiation, and purchase order execution.
- Develop and execute category sourcing strategies to deliver optimal cost, quality, delivery, and innovation across assigned spend categories.
- Identify and qualify new suppliers to strengthen the supply base, reduce risk, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and service-level agreements to ensure competitive value and long-term supply security.
- Source and procure primary and secondary packaging materials, components, and consumables to support manufacturing operations.
- Work with operations on packaging design changes and cost reduction initiatives.
- Procure industrial parts, plant maintenance materials, tools, and services needed to support reliable operations and maintenance.
- Support contract renewals, vendor onboarding, and compliance with data security, licensing, and procurement policies.
- Assist with vendor consolidation, technology lifecycle management, and cost optimization initiatives.
- Manage a spend portfolio of approximately $20 million annually, driving measurable cost savings, cost avoidance, and value creation.
- Track market trends, commodity pricing, and technology advancements to inform sourcing strategies and identify opportunities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing data within the ERP system, including supplier information, pricing, lead times, and contract details.
