Assistant Controller

Lana Funkhouser with Robert Half is looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join our team in Boise, Idaho. This role is ideal for someone who is detail oriented, passionate about accounting, eager to grow their career, and values work-life balance. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee general ledger accounting processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.

• Assist in managing construction accounting tasks, including job costing and asset management.

• Support month-end close activities and collaborate with leadership to review financial results.

• Provide guidance to team members, fostering accountability and encouraging continuous improvement.

• Act as a liaison between the accounting team and leadership, ensuring smooth communication and operations.

• Contribute to the transition from Sage 100 to Sage 300, ensuring proper checks and balances are maintained.

• Implement and uphold best practices for checks and balances within financial workflows.

• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) accounting and maintain accurate job cost records.

• Collaborate on fleet asset management, excluding lease accounting responsibilities.

• Encourage a positive team environment with an emphasis on growth, accountability, and shared learning.

• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting principles and practices.
• Familiarity with construction accounting concepts, including job costing and work-in-progress tracking.
• Experience with month-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Proficiency in Sage 100 and Sage 300 accounting software.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and guide team members effectively.

• Educational background in accounting or equivalent relevant experience.
