Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team in Mattoon, Illinois. This is a long-term contract position where you will play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity of our organization. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and adaptability.

Responsibilities:
• Manage daily wire transfers and ensure timely execution of financial transactions.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies efficiently.
• Post cash transactions and handle journal entry imports from multiple billing systems.
• Collaborate with the remittance team to address reconciliation mismatches.
• Troubleshoot financial system issues, ensuring accurate data flow and reporting.
• Communicate effectively with other departments to streamline processes and address challenges.
• Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Assist in cash management tasks, including initiating transactions and monitoring balances.
• Provide support during audits and ensure documentation is well-organized and accessible.
• Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and General Ledger management.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with financial systems such as PeopleSoft and handling imports from billing systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex reconciliation issues.
• Solid understanding of journal entries and cash transaction processes.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment.
