Accountant Temp

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Barbara, California. This is a long-term contract position offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to financial operations, particularly within the realm of governmental accounting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and grant accounting.

Responsibilities:
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure accuracy in financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain proper accounting records.
• Handle corporate tax returns and sales tax filings in compliance with regulations.
• Oversee grant accounting processes, including tracking and reporting.
• Utilize governmental accounting principles to manage public sector finances.
• Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations for process improvements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
• Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.
• Work with accounting software, including Banner, to manage financial data efficiently.
• Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, with a focus on general ledger reconciliation and journal entries.
• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting principles and practices.
• Experience with corporate tax returns and sales tax reporting.
• Familiarity with grant accounting processes and requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software, with preference for experience using Banner.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to analyze financial data and provide actionable insights.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
