Job Summary
The Sheet Metal Lead Man is responsible for leading a crew in the erection of metal buildings and the installation of metal roof and wall panels, trim, and related components. This position oversees daily jobsite activities, ensures quality workmanship, maintains a safe work environment, and helps keep projects on schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise sheet metal workers on commercial and industrial metal building projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, layout plans, and installation details.
- Direct the erection of pre-engineered metal buildings, including framing, panels, trim, flashing, and accessories.
- Install metal roof panels, wall sheets, liner panels, ridge caps, gutters, downspouts, and other trim components.
- Ensure proper alignment, fastening, sealing, and weatherproofing of all installed materials.
- Coordinate daily work assignments, manpower, tools, lifts, and materials.
- Inspect completed work for accuracy, quality, and compliance with project specifications.
- Train crew members on proper installation methods, safety procedures, and equipment use.
- Communicate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to resolve field issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
- Enforce company safety policies, OSHA standards, and proper use of PPE.
- Assist with unloading, staging, and inventorying materials.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, lifts, and other equipment as needed.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in sheet metal installation, metal building erection, or related construction work.
- Prior crew lead or foreman experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of metal building systems, roof and wall panel installation, and trim work.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and construction drawings.
- Knowledge of layout, measurements, cutting, fitting, and fastening techniques.
- Ability to lead a crew, solve problems in the field, and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred.

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
