Duties
- Lead and supervise excavation crews to execute dirt work efficiently, safely, and according to project plans.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of earth-moving tasks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to guide excavation activities.
- Conduct quality control inspections to verify work meets specifications and safety standards; address issues promptly.
- Manage site safety protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations; conduct safety meetings and enforce safety policies.
- Oversee the use of technical tools including the ohmmeter for equipment diagnostics and ensure proper operation of heavy machinery.
- Maintain detailed documentation of daily progress, change orders, contracts, and safety reports.
- Supervise subcontractors and labor crews; provide training on equipment operation and safety procedures.
- Ensure all work adheres to environmental regulations and best practices for pipeline installation or earthworks.
Skills
- Extensive experience in construction site management with a focus on dirt work or earth-moving projects.
- Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and construction estimating processes.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards related to excavation safety; ability to implement safety protocols effectively.
- Skilled in project scheduling, management, budgeting, and supervising teams on large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and team members.
- Ability to read technical documents such as schematics; operate diagnostic tools like the ohmmeter confidently.
