Overview
We are seeking skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate's will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role requires a strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure, network components, and field service operations. The Fiber Technician will work on-site at various locations, performing critical tasks related to fiber splicing, network installation, and system troubleshooting. Candidates with hands-on experience in telecommunication systems, electrical work, and mechanical knowledge are highly encouraged to apply. But experience not necessary all are encouraged to apply
Responsibilities
- Perform fiber splicing and termination to ensure high-quality signal transmission
- Install and maintain fiber optic cables, Ethernet, telephony systems, and related cabling infrastructure
- Set up and configure Cisco routers and other network equipment in accordance with technical specifications
- Conduct network installation, testing, and troubleshooting using tools such as ohmmeters and low voltage testers
- Utilize hand tools and mechanical knowledge to assemble, repair, or modify telecommunication hardware
- Perform field service tasks including site surveys, system upgrades, and repairs at customer locations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards related to low voltage electrical systems and telecommunication protocols
- Document work performed accurately in service reports and update system records as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in fiber splicing, network installation, or as a service technician within the telecommunications industry
- Knowledge of computer networking concepts including Ethernet, telephony systems, and Cisco routers
- Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment safely and effectively
- Familiarity with cabling practices for low voltage systems and electrical experience is preferred
- Strong troubleshooting skills using diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters and other testing devices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in technical environments
- Ability to work independently in the field with minimal supervision while adhering to safety protocols
- Prior experience working with telecommunication infrastructure or related field service roles is highly desirable
