Optometric Technician / Front Desk Coordinator
Full-Time | $16–$17 per hour | Training Provided
Riverton Family Eye Care is looking for a capable, dependable, and friendly person to join our team as an Optometric Technician and Front Desk Coordinator.
This is a combined position. You will work directly with patients as a technician, preparing them to see the doctor and performing preliminary testing, while also helping operate the front desk, manage appointments, and verify insurance benefits.
Previous optometry or medical office experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right person. We are looking for someone who is excited to work, learns quickly, takes initiative, and is comfortable handling both patient-care and administrative responsibilities.
Optometric Technician Responsibilities
You will be trained to:
- Welcome patients and prepare them for their eye examinations
- Review and update medical histories, medications, and patient concerns
- Perform preliminary testing before the patient sees the doctor
- Operate optometric testing and imaging equipment
- Measure visual acuity and complete other basic vision tests
- Explain testing procedures and help patients feel comfortable
- Enter accurate testing results into the patient record
- Clean and prepare equipment and examination areas between patients
- Assist the doctor and other team members with patient flow throughout the day
No previous experience with optometric equipment is required. We will provide hands-on training.
Front Desk and Insurance Responsibilities
- Answer phones and assist patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Schedule, confirm, and reschedule appointments
- Check patients in and out
- Collect and enter patient and insurance information
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
- Identify when referrals or prior authorizations may be required
- Collect copays and other patient payments
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records
- Respond to patient questions or direct them to the appropriate team member
- Help keep the front desk and patient areas organized
- Assist with other office responsibilities as needed

Customer service, reception, insurance, retail, or healthcare experience is helpful but not required. We care most about finding someone who is capable, kind, motivated, dependable, and willing to learn.
