What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at Riverbend?
The LPN/RN is responsible for the oversight of medication management and administration within the residential setting as well as the provision and supervision of any first aid provided within the facility. This position reports directly to the Clinical Director.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications and render first aid to program clients
- Oversee the medication administration process, including all documentation for the program
- Train and assist non-medical staff with medication administration process and clients’ medication management needs
- Communicate and document communication with physicians, psychiatrists, and other medical professionals
- Collaborate with physicians to create a Plan of Care for each client when appropriate
- Create and contribute to clients’ medical records as needed
- Respond to inquiries, concerns, and complaints from clients
- Track and maintain medical supply inventory along with other staff members
- Counsel clients and family members before, during and after treatment

- Willingness to work a flexible schedule and to fill in when needed
- Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
- Ability to explain treatments and conditions to clients and staff
- Working knowledge of health care laws and regulations
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Electronic Health Record
Required education and experience
- 2 years nursing experience, preferably with a substance use disorder population
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required
- Valid nursing license
- This position requires the successful completion of a CORI check.
