Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule appointments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) ensuring accurate time slots and provider availability.
- Verify insurance coverage, process medical collections, and handle health insurance inquiries in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including intake documentation review and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Assist with medical billing by coding procedures using CPT codes and ICD-10/ICD-9 diagnosis codes accurately for Medicare and other insurers.
- Maintain organized medical records by filing documents securely and managing electronic health records (EHR) with attention to confidentiality policies.
- Support clinical staff by preparing care plans, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and ensuring all administrative tasks are completed promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in medical office management or clinic experience with strong clerical skills.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems , familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and medical billing procedures.
- Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently while maintaining professionalism.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation and scheduling purposes.
- Ability to maintain clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive patient information securely.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes.
- Customer service orientation combined with effective communication skills to ensure positive patient interactions.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare claims and care plan coordination is a plus.
