River City Environmental is seeking an experienced Excavation Foreman to join our expanding construction team. If you're a hands-on leader with experience in underground utilities, grading, and site development, we want to hear from you.
As an Excavation Foreman, you'll lead field crews, coordinate daily operations, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, leads by example, and enjoys mentoring others while helping build successful projects throughout the Portland metro area.
What You'll Do

Lead and supervise excavation crews on commercial and residential construction projects.

Coordinate daily job site activities to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and according to project specifications.

Read and interpret construction plans, grades, and utility layouts.

Operate laser levels and establish accurate grades.

Install underground utility systems including sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water, and related structures.

Perform and oversee structural fill operations, trenching, and backfilling.

Install and work around manholes, catch basins, vaults, and other utility structures.

Operate heavy equipment as needed and assist crew members with field work.

Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.

Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and customers.

Train and mentor crew members while promoting a positive team environment.
Qualifications
-
5 years of excavation and underground utility experience preferred.

Previous experience leading crews or serving as a foreman.

Strong knowledge of grading, trenching, and underground utility installation.

Experience reading blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes preferred.

Proficient in operating heavy equipment.

Commercial and residential site work experience preferred.

Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong team mentality.
Preferred Qualifications

Class A CDL
-
Septic Installer License
-
Experience with GPS grade control systems

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Requirements

Valid driver's license with a clean, insurable driving record.

Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening (includes THC) and background check.

Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds or more.

Comfortable working in trenches, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions.

Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as project demands require.
