HR Assistant – Recruiting & Talent Acquisition

River City Environmental is looking for an organized, people-focused HR Assistant to join our growing Human Resources team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys recruiting, building relationships, and helping create an exceptional candidate experience from first contact through onboarding.
While this role supports a variety of HR functions, its primary focus is recruiting and talent acquisition. The successful candidate will work closely with hiring managers to attract top talent, manage the hiring process, and help ensure new employees have a seamless onboarding experience.
What You'll Do
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
- Review, screen, and evaluate employment applications within our Applicant Tracking System (ATS).
- Conduct phone screenings and coordinate interviews with hiring managers.
- Source passive candidates through online recruiting platforms, networking, and direct outreach (headhunting).
- Create and maintain talent pipelines for hard-to-fill positions.
- Manage job postings across multiple recruiting platforms.
- Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and approve or process job requisitions.
- Prepare and extend employment offers and coordinate pre-employment requirements.
- Maintain accurate candidate records and recruiting metrics.
Onboarding & HR Support
- Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding.
- Walk new hires through onboarding within UKG Ready.
- Process employment verifications.
- Maintain employee files and HR records.
- Assist with HR projects, employee communications, and general administrative duties.
- Support compliance with company policies and employment regulations.
Employee Engagement
- Assist in planning and coordinating company events, employee appreciation activities, wellness initiatives, and other engagement programs.
- Help create a positive employee experience from recruitment through employment.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, or administrative experience preferred.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Professional and confidential in handling sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience with UKG Ready or other HRIS systems is a plus.
