Position Purpose:
Substation Technician III is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of substation equipment/systems. This position works at various locations and may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Will assist with building concrete foundations, ground grids, and steel erection Buswork (high and low voltage)
- Assist in the testing of gas driven internal combustion engines that power electric generators
- Assist in collection and monitoring emissions control data and troubleshooting engines, generators, and switchgear.
- Ability to perform light substation work.
- Reading and interpreting drawings and blueprints
- Digging trenches, climbing poles, towers etc. to perform duties
- Troubleshooting and repairing substation equipment/systems as required
- Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
- Contribute to the development of and participate in the delivery of the Pre-Job Briefing
- Work from a bucket or climb different types of structures at various heights.
- Work may be performed in confined spaces.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms. Work is physically demanding, and employees must be capable of frequent lifting and carrying heavy (50-75 pounds) equipment and materials.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-3 or more years of experience
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License and acceptable driving record
- Able to read and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to travel and work for extended periods in various locations.
