Position Summary
Our client, a modular manufacturer in Corona, CA, is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead day-to-day quality control operations within the factory and build and implement a Quality System from the ground-up.
This role is responsible for ensuring that all production activities meet internal quality standards and external regulatory requirements, including compliance with third-party plan review agencies, HCD, and inspectors.
This is a hands-on, production-floor role focused on execution, inspection, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a start-up manufacturing environment and be comfortable working independently.
Core Responsibilities
1. Daily Production Quality Control
- Perform and manage in-process inspections across all stations:
- Floor framing
- Wall framing (LW/SW)
- Set line (S stations)
- MEP, insulation, drywall, finishes
- Ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications
- Verify work at defined hold points before progression
2. Third-Party & HCD Compliance Execution
- Ensure all work aligns with:
- Third-party plan review approvals (PFS, RADCO, etc.)
- California HCD requirements
- Coordinate daily with inspectors and facilitate inspections
- Resolve field issues and inspection comments quickly
3. Quality Systems Implementation
- Execute the factory Quality Management System (QMS)
- Utilize and maintain:
- QC checklists
- Inspection logs
- Deficiency tracking systems
- Ensure all work is documented and traceable
4. Defect Prevention & Rework Reduction
- Identify quality issues early in the process
- Work with production teams to correct issues in real-time
- Track and reduce:
- Rework
- Punch list items
- Inspection failures
5. Reporting & Metrics
- Track and report key metrics:
- First-pass yield
- Rework rates
- Inspection success rates
- Provide daily and weekly quality reports to leadership
- Maintain organized, audit-ready records
6. Training & Floor Support
- Train production staff on:
- Quality expectations
- Code requirements
- Proper installation methods
- Act as the bridge between production and compliance
- Promote a culture of “build it right the first time”
Qualifications
- 5 years in construction or manufacturing QA/QC
- Experience with:
- Modular construction (preferred)
- Inspections and code compliance
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and methods
- Ability to read Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings
Technical Skills
- Microsoft Excel (tracking, logs, reporting)
- Field-based QC documentation tools
- Experience with digital tracking systems (preferred)
