Job Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for on-time production planning of the fleet and for driving product quality and production improvements. This role includes managing the production crew and ensuring the efficient utilization of materials and supplies. The Production Manager is responsible for ethically and safely maintaining and improving areas of responsibility to meet safety, quality, environmental, cost, and production goals.
Job Responsibilities:
• Oversee daily production activities, ensuring quality standards are met and time is managed effectively across the team
• Work closely with the Branch Manager to continuously improve overall branch production, efficiency, and operational performance
• Spend a minimum of 50% of the workday in the production area, working alongside, educating, and motivating the team
• Ensure all production areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards and processes
• Manage and maintain work orders (WOs), ensuring timely updates and closure
• Oversee and maintain accurate inventory levels, ensuring proper tracking, organization, and availability of materials
• Ensure returned units are inspected and properly documented upon arrival
• Organize and oversee the schedules and work of assigned staff
• Manage all outbound assets to meet quality control standards
• Manage, perform, and supervise repairs/modifications to buildings, including framing, finish carpentry, electrical, flooring, plumbing, painting, HVAC, running gear, and other related work
• Maintain an organized yard layout and proper zoning to support safe, efficient operations
• Promote a strong safety culture by enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety talks, and ensuring a safe working environment
• Maintain yard equipment to support safe operation and extend the lifespan of forklifts, skid steers, and other machinery
• Understand, analyze, and train on service calls under 30 days
• Own production quality by setting standards, monitoring performance, and ensuring consistent execution across operations
• Approve and manage direct reports’ time-off requests
• Build sustainable relationships and trust with customers and vendor partners
• Collaborate with HR for recruiting and workforce training/planning
• Review daily/weekly performance KPIs
• Provide managerial oversight of subcontractors related to rolling stock
• Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations
• Handle coaching, mentoring, employee development, and motivation of direct reports
• Manage discipline and termination processes in accordance with company policy
• Enforce daily impairment assessments with all direct reports
• Perform other duties as assigned; this description is intended to provide a general overview of responsibilities
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Construction production experience required; modular experience strongly preferred
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience supervising a team
• General hand tool and carpentry knowledge and experience required
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Demonstrated experience in production planning, budgeting, and on-time delivery
• Willingness and ability to learn and train on new construction methods and trades
• Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs
• Strong communication skills
