The 5-12 Principal/Assistant Head of School is responsible for the day-to-day operation
of the program at Rising Tide as the instructional leader, supporting teachers, students,
and families.
Responsibilities
● Support an educational environment that is safe and supportive, honors diversity,
promotes a sense of belonging and inclusion, and provides equity
● Lead the Program Leaders and Faculty in creating and maintaining a positive school
climate for all members of the school community through regular positive presence
during school programming:
○ Student arrival and dismissal
○ Advisory, classes, lunch, academic support, hallways, and common areas
○ Sports, arts, club, curricular, and social events
○ School community events
● Provide instructional leadership for 5-12 program, promoting a strong academic
program with an emphasis on skills that aligns the Schoolwide Objectives & Benchmark
Skills with the MA Curriculum Frameworks and supports an Inquiry & Skills approach to
teaching and learning
● Coordinate the professional development of the faculty
● Lead the mentoring program for the faculty
● Manage, support, coach, and evaluate Academic Dean, Assistant Principals, Deans of
Community, Department Chairs, Director of College & Future Planning, Program
Administrator, and General Education Teachers in alignment with the philosophy and
approach of the school
● Manage the evaluation of general education teachers in alignment with the philosophy
and practice of the school, working with the Academic Dean, Department Chairs, and
Assistant Principals to lead cycles of observation and feedback throughout the school
year
● Provide recommendations to the Head of School for hiring and terminating faculty
members
● Oversee the management of the academic calendar
● Oversee the development of core and special schedules to maximize student learning
and faculty collaboration
● Oversee the management of special events and field work
● Lead Morning Meetings and other community events and gatherings
● Communicate with students, faculty members, and families about school programs and
special events
● Collaborate with the Head of School and program leaders to support student
recruitment, enrollment, orientation, retention, and future planning
● Present at open house and orientation events
● Attend and supervise extra events and coordinate attendance of other school leaders
● Attend and help lead weekly, after-school Department Chair and Advisory Team Leader
meetings
● Conduct Principal Hearings, including hearings for potential long-term suspension
and/or expulsion of students
● Approve purchase orders for resources requests from faculty
● Collaborate with Head of School and Director of Finance, Facilities, and Human
Resources in budget planning
● Support the Head of School in the review of and updates to school policies and
publications
● Serve as Civil Rights Coordinator and Title IX Decision Maker
Compensation and Start Date
The salary range for this position is $115,00 to $130,00. The final offered salary will be
commensurate with the candidate’s skills, experiences, and qualifications. The start date for
this role will be July 1, 2026.
