Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 per year

Job Summary

Acting as a pivotal technical and operational leader, the Design Engineering Manager directs the engineering department to guarantee the safe, precise, and on-time release of critical product designs. This role requires a hands-on leader capable of bridging high-level strategic planning with floor-level production support. The successful candidate will navigate complex FAA and DER regulatory interfaces, mentor technical staff, manage budgets, and architect robust departmental policies to drive performance under demanding operational deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct the daily activities of the design engineering team to ensure flawless execution of strategic project plans.

• Architect, maintain, and present intricate project schedules encompassing product development, manufacturing, and structural design to cross-functional departments.

• Drive critical compliance and program interfaces with Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) and the FAA.

• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate top-tier engineering talent while actively monitoring and enhancing shop floor performance.

• Speerhead continuous improvement initiatives across the department to streamline internal processes and ensure timely deliverables.

• Control engineering resources, departmental budgets, CAD systems, and project timelines with high efficiency.

• Coordinate seamlessly with cross-functional managers, external contractors, and aviation suppliers.

• Author and implement new internal procedures and policies to elevate overall engineering output and accuracy.

• Lead high-level design review sessions, ensuring clear and effective technical communication across all channels.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.

• At least 10 years of applied engineering experience (or a Master's degree paired with 5 years of relevant background).

• A minimum of 5 years in a direct management or supervisory capacity leading technical engineering teams.

• Demonstrated background navigating FAR Part 23 or Part 25 certification standards.

• Deep functional understanding of aviation hardware, general aircraft maintenance operations, fabrication techniques, and core engineering principles.

• High-level proficiency utilizing SolidWorks or comparable 3D CAD modeling software platforms.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, paired with strong organizational capabilities.

• Highly adaptable, self-motivated nature with the proven ability to excel under pressure and operate with minimal supervision within a tight-knit team environment.

• Advanced expertise in systems engineering spanning multiple complex aircraft sub-systems.

• Proven track record of successfully coordinating with premium fleet operators, DERs, and the FAA.
