Position Overview
The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field operations on commercial tenant improvement (TI) and ground-up projects across multiple locations nationwide. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage fast-paced construction environments, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure projects are delivered on schedule.
The ideal candidate has experience in retail or high-end commercial construction, with a strong eye for detail and the ability to manage projects that demand precision, coordination, and top-tier finishes. Extensive travel is required for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily jobsite operations for commercial TI and ground-up projects across various locations.
- Supervise subcontractors and trades to ensure high-quality workmanship, especially on detailed or high-end finishes.
- Review construction drawings, submittals, and schedules to ensure alignment with project scope and specifications.
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, inspectors, and project teams to keep projects progressing smoothly.
- Enforce project schedules and monitor jobsite productivity to meet aggressive timelines.
- Conduct jobsite meetings, maintain daily reports, and ensure accurate project documentation.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and jobsite standards.
- Manage material deliveries, site logistics, and sequencing of work.
- Oversee inspections, final walkthroughs, and ensure timely punch list completion and project closeout.
- Utilize construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project for reporting and coordination.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Experience with retail, tenant improvement (TI), or high-end commercial projects preferred.
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP, and finish drawings.
- Proven experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multiple trades.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
- Ability to manage projects in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel nationwide as required.
