Summary
We are representing a reputable mechanical contractor seeking an experienced General Manager to lead their residential and multifamily division. This role requires strong trade knowledge in plumbing and HVAC systems and hands-on leadership across all phases of operations including estimating, bidding, design, installation, materials, and field coordination.
The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven leader with a strong background in construction management and experience running operations within a mechanical contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full operations including estimating, design, procurement, installation, and field execution
- Lead sales and production meetings and set performance goals
- Manage division budgets, staffing, forecasting, and profitability
- Build and maintain relationships with builders, vendors, and clients
- Mentor and develop team members across office and field teams
- Work with leadership on growth strategy and division expansion
- Monitor field operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule
- Represent the company in client meetings and industry events
- Drive improvements in estimating accuracy, field productivity, and client satisfaction
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in mechanical construction (plumbing or HVAC preferred)
- Proven experience managing a division, department, or operations team
- Strong understanding of plumbing and HVAC systems and construction workflows
- Experience with project management, estimating, and scheduling
- Relationships within residential and multifamily builder market preferred
- Proficiency with construction or accounting software (Viewpoint a plus)
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work fully onsite in a fast-paced environment
