The Healthcare Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all field operations and ensuring the successful execution of healthcare construction projects from preconstruction through project completion. This role serves as the on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing schedules, maintaining strict safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered while minimizing disruptions to active healthcare environments.
Projects may include hospitals, medical office buildings (MOBs), ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient clinics, behavioral health facilities, laboratories, and other healthcare-related facilities. Candidates with experience on complex commercial, institutional, or public works projects will also be considered, provided they have been involved with technically demanding construction environments.
- Oversee all day-to-day field operations from project startup through final turnover.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field personnel to maintain project schedules and construction milestones.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-range look-ahead schedules.
- Manage construction activities in occupied or operational healthcare environments while prioritizing patient safety and minimizing disruptions.
- Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, healthcare regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Enforce OSHA requirements, site-specific safety protocols, and infection control measures where applicable.
- Lead daily subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and project planning sessions.
- Review construction documents to identify constructability issues and resolve field conflicts before impacting project progress.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, AHJ requirements, and project documentation throughout all phases of construction.
- Manage site logistics, material deliveries, temporary utilities, and workforce planning.
- Track daily production, maintain field reports, and communicate project updates with the project team.
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor project budgets, schedules, procurement, and overall project performance.
- Oversee punch list completion, owner training, commissioning support, and project closeout.
- Build strong working relationships with owners, healthcare staff, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
- 7–15 years of construction experience with at least 5 years serving as a Superintendent for a general contractor.
- Strong experience managing healthcare construction projects required.
- Experience with hospitals, medical office buildings, outpatient facilities, surgical centers, laboratories, or other healthcare facilities strongly preferred.
- Candidates with experience on complex commercial, higher education, public works, or institutional projects will also be considered.
- Experience working in occupied facilities and coordinating phased construction activities is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor management, and field operations.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities in fast-paced construction environments.
- Proficiency with construction management software and project reporting tools.
- Experience with HCAI (formerly OSHPD) projects is highly preferred.
- Experience managing projects ranging from $10M to $150M .
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
