Position Summary
This Construction Inspector role supports a major aviation capital improvement program within the Greater Los Angeles area, working within a Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection team across multiple active projects. The position focuses on building-related scopes within tenant improvement and terminal environments, ensuring all construction activities meet applicable codes, specifications, and project requirements.
This role is highly field-focused and ideal for someone comfortable working in active, complex environments, coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project teams while maintaining a strong emphasis on documentation, compliance, and accountability.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform daily inspections across construction sites to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable building codes
• Review and interpret construction documents including drawings, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
• Document daily field activity with detailed inspection reports capturing scope, progress, and any issues observed
• Verify contractor compliance with local jurisdiction requirements, LA City Building Code, ADA standards, and project-specific guidelines
• Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and third-party inspectors to support testing and special inspections
• Monitor field activities including structural work, underground utilities, finishes, and building systems
• Track and document field changes, quantities, and time-and-material work as needed
• Assist in validating contractor progress and supporting pay application reviews when required
• Identify deficiencies or safety concerns and ensure timely resolution in coordination with project teams
Qualifications
• 5 years of construction inspection experience, ideally within public works, aviation, or large-scale building projects
• Strong understanding of building construction methods, sequencing, and inspection processes from start to finish
• Working knowledge of LA City Building Code and ADA requirements
• Ability to operate independently in the field while managing multiple priorities
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, detailed reports
• Experience working in active environments with multiple stakeholders preferred
Certifications & Technical Skills
• Cal OSHA 30 certification required
• Confined space awareness and fall protection training required
• NFPA 70E certification required for electrical-focused inspectors
• ICC certifications or LADBS Deputy Inspector licenses preferred (not required)
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and construction management systems (PMWeb or similar)
• Comfortable working with digital plans, documentation platforms, and reporting tools
