Position Overview
The HVAC Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC and mechanical systems across a variety of facilities including office buildings, retail spaces, healthcare environments, and industrial properties. This role focuses on delivering fast, reliable service and long-term solutions that minimize downtime and improve system efficiency.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong troubleshooting skills who can work independently while supporting customers with high-quality service and clear communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial HVAC systems including rooftop units (RTUs), split systems, air handlers, and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections to ensure optimal system performance and reduce unexpected downtime.
- Diagnose issues related to electrical components, controls, compressors, motors, and airflow systems.
- Conduct system assessments using advanced diagnostic tools to identify root causes of issues.
- Service and maintain custom ductwork systems and building automation controls.
- Perform system startups, testing, and commissioning as required.
- Provide timely response to service calls, including emergency repairs when needed.
- Maintain accurate service records including work performed, materials used, and recommendations.
- Communicate with clients to explain issues, recommend solutions, and provide maintenance guidance.
- Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety standards, and company procedures.
- Support energy efficiency initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve system performance and reduce operating costs.
Qualifications
- 4 years of experience as an HVAC Service Technician, preferably in commercial environments.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical equipment.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical systems, controls, and HVAC components.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- EPA Certification required (Universal preferred).
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on commercial buildings such as offices, retail, healthcare, or industrial facilities.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and service contracts.
- OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
