Project Manager - Billings Refinery
Contract Details: 1-year contract | 9/80 Schedule | Per Diem offered to non-local candidates
Position Overview
The Project Manager will oversee capital funding and field implementation of multiple small to medium-sized mechanical projects at the Billings Refinery, reporting to the Regional Project Director. This role will work alongside two senior Project Managers on-site, managing projects such as equipment replacements, pump seal upgrades, valve replacements, and fixed/rotating equipment installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop execution strategies for projects based on size, complexity, and risk assessment
- Manage full project lifecycle from concept to completion, including cost estimates, schedules, procurement, and vendor contracts
- Coordinate internal resources and external contractors for engineering, procurement, and construction activities
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and technical support teams to ensure project operability
- Present project status reports to senior management
- Build consensus and secure cross-functional support for project initiatives
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- 10 years of oil & gas project experience (capital projects, turnarounds, mechanical upgrades)
- 5 years as a Project Manager with sole accountability for project execution
- Proven track record executing projects from start to finish in refinery or field environments
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and complex subprojects
- Willing and able to obtain TWIC card
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
- Field or refinery construction experience
- Contract negotiation experience
- Strong project controls background
- Career focused in oil & gas industry project management
