This role uses field operations practices, digital production tools, and work management processes to identify production variance, execute corrective actions, and communicate status and needs to appropriate stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Identify production variance using Production Viewer, PI, Cygnet, and other applicable tools to ensure wells are at or above clean average (target).
- When wells are below clean average, devise step-by-step plans and execute actions to return the well/pad to at or above clean average.
- If assistance is needed to restore a well/pad to clean average, escalate in this order:
- Lead area tech
- Optimizer
- Production Foreman
- Engineer
- Notify foreman, Lead Area Tech, Optimizers, and OSC of daily actions through the route and area Teams Channel.
- Review production volumes and escalate volume calculation issues to the Engineer for coordination and resolution.
- Site inspections: Verify no overdue site inspections using the PBI tool or emailed PDF flash report.
- Plunger inspections: Verify no overdue plunger inspections using the PBI tool and ensure inspections are within KPI thresholds:
- 5,000 miles or more
- 12 months or older
- Verifications/Gaps: Target verifications and gaps using the COW tool along with SIMOPS in operation; maintain a 15% annual verification-to-gap target ratio at the individual level.
- Coding: Verify coding is correct and current, including:
- Normal Ops – No Action codes match the correct bucket
- Base Backout – No Action wells have completed basic troubleshooting and are underperforming due to line pressure increase
- Wells above clean average are assigned back to Normal Ops – No Action
- Follow up with Lead Area Tech on codes in engineering/optimization longer than 7 days
- If you touch a well, enter a downtime code entry
- When sites require additional help to bring back online or require additional work:
- Create Work Management to the appropriate discipline (Maintenance, Automation)
- Ensure any manipulated valves adhere to LOTO policy
- Flex to other field areas when route work is complete and daily metrics are met.
- Prioritize work from morning dispatch review and intra-day SCADA alarms.
- Upon arrival on site:
- Place a cone at pad entrance
- Create Work Management for site entry checklist and JSA for the task
- Perform work
- Update well or pad deferment codes with comments
- Close the Work Management ticket or forward to the impacted group if needed
- Complete an independent JSA for Automation/Maintenance/Cooler work completed unless a crew is doing the work; if a crew is doing the work, review the Crew JSA.
- Communicate handover requirements to OSC for night operators.
- Collect facility run tickets every three days and turn them in to the field office location for production validations (only required for the first several months of Blackhawk operatorship).
