Job Description:
Property Caretaker and Overseer position responsible for providing oversight of fee lands (Mecom Ranch) near Holly Beach, LA to ensure compliance with surface management and use policies by mineral operators, surface lessees and others with rights or permission to access or occupy the fee property. This is a part-time role working 3 days per week/24 hours, initially shadowing an existing employee to learn the property, mineral lessees and surface lessees with access to the property.
This position is a combination of a Park Ranger, Law Enforcement Officer and Ranch Hand. The role is ideal for someone who grew up or recreated in the southwest Louisiana region.
Responsibilities:
Property Oversight:
- Serve as Caretaker of the land and surrounding marsh
- Oversee surface lessees (Hunting, Fishing, Crabbing, Alligator eggs & hides)
- Oversee mineral operators, pipeline companies, governmental entities conducting operations on property
Environmental Monitoring:
- Collect environmental data and operate water management structures as part of the East Mud Lake Hydrologic Management Project (CS-20)
Patrol & Monitoring:
- Patrol existing oilfield roads & state highways traversing the property by vehicle
- Patrol and monitor wetlands and water control structures via boat (provided)
- Monitor status of political and governmental climate in Cameron Parish
Equipment & Maintenance:
- Maintain company boats, vehicle, tools and equipment
Equipment Operation:
- Operate pickup trucks, outboard work boats, airboat, mudboat, surface drive boats, tractor, lawn mowing equipment, chain saws and pruners, generators, survey equipment, spray pumps and assorted hand power tools
Skills and Qualifications:
Required Certifications:
- Louisiana Driver's License
- Louisiana Boating Education Course
- Louisiana Hunter Safety Education Course
Desired Skillsets:
- Hard working and self-motivated
- Mechanically inclined
- Computer literate
- Experience trailering and operating boats
- Familiarity with coastal ecosystems and wildlife
- Knowledge of oil and gas production operations
- Wetland experience (hunting, trapping, fishing)
- Knowledge of culture and customs of southwest Louisiana
- Ideal candidate grew up or recreated in the southwest Louisiana region
Role Details:
Location: Lafayette, LA
Schedule: Part-time position: 3 days,72Hrs per week / 24 hour shifts / NO Overtime
Pay: $32.20/ Hr
