Rightstone is looking for an Electronic Assembler in Blacksburg, VA. The pay rate is $35.00/hr. for a full-time, 4-month contract with a strong "Temp-to-Hire" potential for top performers.
In this role, you will be the key person responsible for operating a specialized three-story fiber optic draw tower within a high-precision manufacturing facility. You will manage complex production stages—from chemical mixing and gas handling to the precision testing and splicing of fiber optic sensors. This is an ideal position for a versatile, hands-on technical professional who excels at troubleshooting electronics and maintaining the core systems of a specialized plant.
Important:
This is a temporary/contract position with no benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, or paid time off during the contract period, but these may become available upon conversion to a permanent role.
What you will do:
- Operate and monitor a three-story fiber optic draw tower, managing specialized production stages across each level of the facility.
- Perform high-precision splicing of optical fibers and components while configuring and maintaining sensitive test equipment.
- Conduct detailed measurements and quality testing on fiber optic sensors using electronic schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Execute routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on electronics, control systems, and mechanical assemblies.
- Safely manage compressed gas cylinders and accurately mix chemicals required for the fiber manufacturing process.
- Maintain detailed production records (travelers) and collaborate with the team to suggest continuous process improvements.
What we are looking for:
- 5 years of professional experience working with electronic components, wiring harnesses, and mechanical assemblies.
- Proven ability to read and interpret complex electronic schematics, assembly prints, and technical drawings.
- Prior experience in fiber optics (cable assembly or draw tower operations) is highly preferred; however, the team is willing to train the right electronics expert.
- Physical ability to navigate a multi-level workshop, perform manual labor, and operate a forklift for material handling.
- Strong organizational skills with a "safety-first" mindset and the ability to work independently with high attention to detail.
- A proactive team player ready for a 100% onsite role with a consistent Monday–Friday, 8 AM – 5 PM schedule.
