What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Estimator position at Riggs Industries?
Riggs Industries is seeking a Construction Estimator who will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication projects by reviewing plans, specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, obtaining vendor quotations, and preparing bid proposals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project requirements.
- Perform accurate material quantity takeoffs and labor estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bid summaries, and proposal documents.
- Maintain estimating spreadsheets, databases, and historical cost information.
- Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, and purchasing to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Identify project risks, clarifications, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with customers, vendors, and subcontractors during the bidding process.
Qualifications:
Ability to read construction drawings; strong analytical and math skills; proficiency in Excel and estimating software.
Education and/or Experience:
Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent estimating experience.
Computer Skills:
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, estimating software, ERP software.
Physical RequirementsWork Environment:
Primarily office-based with occasional visits to fabrication shop or project sites. Ability to walk, stand, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
