Job title: Fulltime Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: Chicago, IL

Job Summary

The Cath Lab Technologist will assume key duties such as using electrocardiography (EKG) equipment to assist in detecting issues with the heart or blood vessels, taking patient medical histories, and assisting physicians during procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Technical Operations: Perform technical functions, patient care, and daily operational tasks within the cardiac catheterization lab and procedure rooms.
• Data Monitoring & Analysis: Monitor, analyze, obtain, calculate, and document data gathered during procedures. Immediately alert the physician to any abnormalities or changes in patient vital signs or responses.
• Patient Engagement: Clear, empathetic communication to explain procedures to patients, ensuring their cooperation and easing anxiety.
• Departmental Support: Assist in ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, supporting cost-efficiency initiatives, and actively participating in process improvements within the unit.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

• High school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of experience, OR an Associate's degree, OR a Technical degree.
• Diploma from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Technology OR graduation from an accredited/licensed Radiologic Technology program.
• Cath Lab experience is required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Strong understanding and application of sterile technique preferred.

Certifications & Licenses

• Registry/Licensure: RCIS Registry OR ARRT Licensure.
• Life Support: Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire.
• Specialized Training: Basic Arrhythmia certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Credentials: Radiologic Technologist (RT) with Vascular Interventional (VI) or Cardiac Interventional (CI) credentials preferred.
