Duties and Responsibilities
Selected candidate will assist with the following technical tasks:
- Hydrologic analyses for land development, transportation, green infrastructure, and flood control projects
- Hydraulic analyses of storm drain conduit and open channel systems
- Floodplain hydraulic analyses and studies for natural channels and restoration and flood control projects
- Water quality calculations for the design of best management practices (BMPs)
- Flow mitigation/detention modeling
- Preparation of conceptual design plans
- Preparation of technical reports, such drainage studies, stormwater quality management plans (SWQMPs), and feasibility studies
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following educational background and/or experience:
- Hydrologic analysis such as Rational Method calculations
- Hydraulic calculations and/or modeling, such as HEC-RAS
- Data analysis using Excel or other software
- Computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software (i.e., Autodesk and/or MicroStation)
- Spatial analysis (i.e., GIS), data analysis using statistical programs, and database management
- Technical writing/ technical document preparation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as an individual and as part of team with a focus on project success
Education and Licensure
- BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering or closely related field. Completed course work in the following areas is desired: hydrology and technical writing. Completed course work in the following areas is a plus for consideration: hydraulics, water quality, GIS, AutoCAD (or MicroStation), and surveying. Four years of relevant work experience can be used to supplement the education requirement
- Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification (preferred)
