Admissions & Benefits Entitlement Coordinator

Be the Expert. Lead the Process. Change Lives.

Every successful admission begins with someone who knows how to navigate a complex system with confidence and compassion.

We're looking for an experienced Admissions & Benefits Entitlement Coordinator to serve as our organization's subject matter expert (SME) on public benefit entitlements while leading the admissions process alongside the Admissions Manager. This highly visible role serves as the front line for prospective individuals, families, hospitals, care managers, and referral sources, ensuring every admission is seamless and every individual has access to the benefits needed to support their care.

If you're someone who enjoys solving complex eligibility issues, building relationships, and guiding families through one of the most important decisions they'll make, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact every day.

What You'll Do

As the Admissions & Benefits Entitlement Coordinator, you will:

  • Partner with the Admissions Manager to lead the admissions process from initial inquiry through successful placement.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective individuals, families, care managers, hospitals, and referral agencies.
  • Act as the organization's subject matter expert on Medicaid and public benefit entitlement programs, providing guidance to internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and facilitate admissions, ensuring all clinical, financial, and regulatory requirements are completed accurately and on time.
  • Determine benefit eligibility and assist with Medicaid, SSI, SSDI, Medicare, SNAP, and other entitlement applications, renewals, and recertifications.
  • Monitor benefit status and proactively resolve issues to prevent interruptions in funding or services.
  • Educate individuals and families regarding available benefits, financial responsibilities, and the admissions process.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Nursing, Clinical, Residential, and Program Operations to ensure smooth transitions into services.
  • Develop strong working relationships with OPWDD, care coordination organizations, hospitals, and community referral partners.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records while ensuring compliance with OPWDD, Medicaid, HIPAA, and agency requirements.

We're Looking For Someone Who...

  • Is recognized for their expertise in Medicaid eligibility and public benefit entitlement programs.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where no two days are alike.
  • Can confidently manage multiple admissions while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Builds trust quickly with families and referral partners.
  • Enjoys solving problems and finding creative solutions.
  • Communicates professionally and compassionately with people from all backgrounds.
  • Takes ownership and follows through from beginning to end.

The work you do here doesn't just complete paperwork—it opens doors.

If you're ready to become the trusted expert who helps individuals and families navigate the path to essential services, we'd love to hear from you.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of experience in admissions, Medicaid eligibility, benefits entitlement, healthcare registration, case management, or social services.
  • Strong working knowledge of Medicaid eligibility, SSI, SSDI, Medicare, and other public assistance programs.
  • Experience within OPWDD, developmental disabilities, behavioral health, long-term care, healthcare, or nonprofit human services is strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and Microsoft Office applications
