POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the
Accounting Department at RH Community Builders. This position provides direct oversight of
accounting staff, ensures adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP),
nonprofit financial regulations, and applicable federal and state compliance requirements. The
Accounting Manager plays a key role in maintaining the fiscal integrity of the organization by
developing, implementing, and monitoring internal controls, policies, and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Oversees day-to-day accounting operations and department workflow
● Ensure accurate, timely processing of transactions and invoicing
● Manages AP, AR, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and general ledger processes
● Direct supervision of accounting staff; workflow management; training and coaching
● Executes and manages close process, reconciliations, journal entries
● Oversees monthly invoicing to funders, contract billing, and supporting documentation
● Prepares internal financial schedules and supporting documentation
● Implements internal controls and ensures transactional compliance with policies
● Provides actuals and variance data to support budgeting
● Supplies operational data and trend insights
● Prepares schedules, reconciliations, and audit documentation
● Improves accounting workflows, automation, and internal procedures
● Works closely with program teams on invoicing and expense tracking
● Tactical and operational decisions within accounting processes
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)
● Computer literate (Microsoft Office: PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)
● Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting or Finance
● Ability to adapt to change and learn quickly
● Close attention to detail and organization
● Ability to effectively communicate
