Designation: Network Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform unboxing, racking, stacking, and physical installation of network switches at the Ashburn data center.
• Install and connect power cables, network cables, uplinks, and SAN connections following data center standards and best practices.
• Power on devices and verify hardware health, boot status, and LED indicators.
• Assist in configuring management interfaces, VLANs, and basic switch parameters as per provided network design documents.
• Support migration of configurations and services from existing (legacy) switches to new hardware with minimal downtime.
• Validate port mappings, VLAN associations, and routing consistency after migration.
• Perform cleanup of unused, obsolete, or legacy configurations in coordination with the remote engineering team.
• Register and integrate network switches with Cisco DCNM (Data Center Network Manager) and Nexus Dashboard.
• Verify switch visibility, health status, telemetry, and synchronization within DCNM and Nexus Dashboard.
• Validate SAN (Storage Area Network) connectivity and ensure end-to-end communication with connected storage systems.
• Perform post-installation testing to confirm stable network and SAN operations.
• Coordinate with remote engineers and customer stakeholders during installation, migration, and validation activities.
• Provide a detailed work summary and support customer walkthrough and final handover activities.
Qualifications & Skills:
• Hands-on experience with data center onsite support including racking, stacking, and cabling of network equipment.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals such as switches, VLANs, cabling, and IP addressing.
• Familiarity with Cisco Nexus switches and data center environments.
• Basic knowledge of Cisco DCNM and Nexus Dashboard is preferred.
• Understanding of SAN connectivity and storage network concepts.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and collaborate effectively with remote engineering teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
Completion Criteria:
• All network switches are successfully installed, migrated, and integrated with Cisco DCNM and Nexus Dashboard.
• SAN connectivity is validated and confirmed to be fully operational.
• Configuration cleanup and verification activities are completed.
• Customer confirms successful network and SAN operations and provides formal sign-off on the completion report.
