What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Controller position at RESTORERZ Emergency Services?
Restorerz Emergency Services is a tech-enabled emergency mitigation business operating across California, Nevada, and Ohio. We offer rapid response services to mitigate water, fire, mold, and content damage events. Five branches and a national expansion roadmap, best-in-class EBITDA margins, diversified revenue sourced through a referral engine built around plumber partners and our proprietary Referralz technology platform as well as digital marketing.
We are building a nationwide platform and our finance group aims to bring institutional rigor to enable scaling the business from statewide to national operations.
Corporate Controller, reporting to the CFO, with a defined growth path into an executive financial leadership seat over the next 18–24 months. You will own the accounting function end-to-end on day one. Over time, you will layer in FP&A, partner directly with the CFO and the rest of the executive team to influence capital allocation decisions and maximize enterprise value.
This is not a maintenance seat. We report our financials in 3–5 business days today and plan to layer on a first-year GAAP audit, get real horsepower out of Sage Intacct, and standardize the operating reporting that the business and our investors will rely on. You will be the architect of that transition.
- Monthly close in 3–5 business days, end to end, owned outright
- Sage Intacct as a leverage point: dimension architecture, custom reporting, dashboards, automation. Removing manual Excel reports and obsessing over simplifying and automating tasks where possible
- Migration from cash-based treatments to full GAAP across revenue recognition, accruals, prepaids, and reserves — while maintaining the velocity required to support timely decision making in a fast growing business
- First-year audit: policy documentation, PBC management, materiality calls, auditor relationship
- AR and collections oversight in partnership with our Financial Operations leadership, including insurance carrier billing and collections dynamics and AR policies
- AP, payroll, treasury, and bank reconciliation oversight
- ServiceTitan / Rippling ↔ Intacct integration depth and data integrity
- Multi-state compliance (CA, NV, OH): sales/use tax, payroll tax, business licensing
- Monthly reporting package and ad-hoc investor diligence
- Branch-level P&L analysis and direct partnership with branch GMs
- Unit economics design: job-level profitability, technician utilization, referral source ROI, working capital analyses
- Annual budgeting and quarterly reforecasting
- Capital allocation, M&A integration accounting, tuck-in diligence
- Treasury strategy
- Building and leading the broader finance team
The CFO will partner with you actively on this ramp. Succession is the explicit objective, not an aspiration.
- CPA, active or recently active
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years as Controller or Assistant Controller in a multi-location operating business
- Deep, recent Sage Intacct experience. You can sketch a dimension architecture on a whiteboard. You know the difference between Custom Report Writer and Financial Report Writer and when to reach for each. You have configured GL Outlook, smart rules, recurring entries, and allocations in production. Certification is a plus
- First-year audit experience from the company side, ideally as the owner of the engagement
- Strong working knowledge of revenue recognition under ASC 606 in a services context, ASC 842, and accrual accounting hygiene
- Track record of closing books in 5 business days or fewer in a GAAP environment
- Ability to think operationally — not just produce reports, but understand what is behind the numbers and translate that into actionable opportunities for business partners
- ServiceTitan or comparable field service platform
- Field services, restoration, home services, or construction industry experience
- PE-backed company experience and familiarity with sponsor reporting cadence
- Insurance billing dynamics: Xactimate, supplements, etc.
- Prior FP&A or business partner role earlier in career
- Reports to: CFO
- On-site in Van Nuys, CA
- Compensation: competitive base, performance bonus, and meaningful equity participation in the next chapter of the business
