Essential Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and lead engaging group activities for residents.
- Provide meaningful one-on-one activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and needs.
- Document resident participation and attendance in accordance with department guidelines.
- Assist with the development and implementation of the monthly activity calendar.
- Support and coordinate volunteers participating in resident programs and events.
- Prepare activity spaces and maintain activity supplies, equipment, and program areas.
- Participate in resident outings, special events, and transportation activities as needed.
- Foster positive relationships with residents, families, volunteers, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized care plans.
- Assist with food and beverage service during activities while adhering to resident dietary restrictions and safety standards.
- Complete assigned projects and department tasks in a timely manner.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- College coursework in Recreational Therapy, Social Work, Gerontology, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with older adults, senior living communities, healthcare, recreation, or activity programming preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage groups and individuals effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with residents, families, team members, volunteers, and leadership.
- Ability to speak clearly and confidently when facilitating activities and making announcements.
- Ability to redirect and encourage resident participation in a positive, supportive manner.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with common software applications.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
