Underwriter

Schedule: Full-Time

We are seeking an Underwriter to join a specialty commercial insurance team in the New Orleans area. This is a great opportunity for someone with at least 1 year of underwriting experience who is analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in expanding their experience within specialty commercial insurance.

Candidates with experience underwriting Workers’ Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Commercial Auto, or other commercial casualty lines are strongly encouraged to apply. More experienced underwriters will also be considered, with compensation adjusted accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Review and evaluate new and renewal commercial insurance submissions.
• Analyze exposures, loss history, financial information, and other underwriting data.
• Determine appropriate risk selection, pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage.
• Work with agents and brokers to obtain additional information and move submissions through the underwriting process.
• Prepare quotes and recommendations in accordance with underwriting guidelines and authority.
• Manage renewals and assist with ongoing servicing of assigned accounts.
• Review endorsements and changes that may impact coverage or overall risk.
• Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and account files.
• Work closely with underwriting leadership, claims, and other internal departments.
• Develop knowledge of specialty insurance products and more complex commercial risks.

Qualifications

• 1 year of insurance underwriting experience.
• Commercial carrier underwriting experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and/or Commercial Auto is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable reviewing loss runs, exposure information, and financial or operational data.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with agents, brokers, and internal teams.
