JOB DESCRIPTION
Housekeeper
Reports To: Asst. Head Housekeeper / Head Housekeeper
Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Cleans guest rooms in accordance with established company, brand or hotel standards to allow a sufficient quantity of vacant and clean rooms.
  • Responds to the needs of guests and coworkers in a friendly, positive manner.
  • Within guidelines established by the hotel or management company, maintains cleanliness and hygiene standards for the property.
  • Responsible for carrying out special requests from guests in a timely manner, such as extra towels, replacing faulty equipment, etc.
  • Work with the hotel maintenance staff to ensure guestrooms are functional and good working order

Requirements:

  • Previous hotel housekeeping experience is a plus, but is not required. On job training is available.
  • Must be flexible (work weekends and holidays), and be a team player.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
  • Attention to detail and ability meet high standards of room cleanliness.
  • Must be able to properly use cleaning supplies and chemicals.
  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs, stand, bend, crouch, kneel, reach overhead, twist, lift, push, pull and carry.
  • Must be able to push and pull a fully loaded wheeled cart in excess of 100 lbs.

Work Location: In personle for maintaining cleanliness and order in residential or commercial spaces, ensuring a welcoming environment for all. This role requires a strong commitment to sanitation and customer service, as well as the ability to perform various cleaning tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including dusting, sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
  • Manage laundry services including washing, drying, folding, and ironing linens and clothing.
  • Maintain floor care through regular cleaning and upkeep of carpets and hard surfaces.
  • Ensure sanitation standards are met by using appropriate cleaning supplies and techniques.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client needs and preferences.
  • Assist with cooking or meal preparation as needed.
  • Conduct routine inspections of premises to ensure cleanliness and safety standards are upheld.
  • Handle janitorial tasks in both residential and commercial settings as required.
  • Collaborate with housekeeping management to optimize cleaning schedules and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in residential cleaning, custodial work, or hotel housekeeping is preferred.
  • Familiarity with floor care techniques and equipment such as vacuums, mops, and carpet cleaners.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a friendly demeanor towards clients and guests.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Previous experience in commercial cleaning or janitorial roles is a plus.
  • Cooking skills are desirable but not mandatory; willingness to learn is essential.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in residential or commercial cleaning, custodial work or hotel housekeeping is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques including carpet cleaning, floor care, sanitation practices, and laundry procedures.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with residents or guests.
  • Experience with janitorial equipment and supplies management.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy items, standing for extended periods, and bending or reaching.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures related to cleaning chemicals and equipment use.
