Position Title: Production Team Leader (Floater) - 1st Shift
Reports to: Plant Manager
Job Summary:The Production Team Leader (Floater) oversees the daily operations of the production floor to ensure that production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of safety, food safety, and quality. This role involves coaching and inspiring team members, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and demonstrating strong leadership skills. This position will supervise different areas needed, based on the production needs of any particular day or week, including switching from one plant to the next.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Take ownership of production training programs by regularly reviewing, updating, and delivering training materials to ensure team competency and compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reflect current best practices, regulatory requirements, and operational changes.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize the risk of workplace accidents and injuries. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to promote a culture of safety.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations and company standards. Monitor production processes to guarantee that all products meet safety and quality specifications.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to production staff. Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, motivation, and personal growth.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Utilize lean manufacturing principles to streamline operations.
- Oversee all aspects of the production process, including scheduling, staffing, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation. Ensure that production goals and deadlines are met consistently.
- Maintain accurate production records, including daily reports, inventory levels, and incident reports. Analyze data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
- Work closely with other departments such as Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth and coordinated operations. Participate in cross-functional teams to address challenges and implement solutions.
- Keep abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements. Adapt to evolving requirements and incorporate best practices into production processes.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of food manufacturing leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of food safety regulations, training procedures, GMPs, and HACCP principles. Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in using production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
- Detail-oriented, results-driven, and adaptable. Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and a commitment to excellence.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, including varying shifts and hours as needed.
