The Supplier Quality Specialist (SQA) is responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. As a key member of the Source Selection team, the SQA evaluates, selects, develops and qualifies suppliers, and drives continuous improvement utilizing supplier scorecards, supplier audits, and improvement plans where needed. The SQA drives cross functional engagement to ensure RENK America suppliers deliver material that meets or exceeds all quality and contractual requirements.

The Supplier Quality Specialist (SQA) is responsible for driving quality for assigned suppliers, including quality plan implementation. As a key member of the Source Selection team, the SQA evaluates, selects, develops and qualifies suppliers, and drives continuous improvement utilizing supplier scorecards, supplier audits, and improvement plans where needed. The SQA drives cross functional engagement to ensure RENK America suppliers deliver material that meets or exceeds all quality and contractual requirements.
Essential Functions
- Perform supplier evaluation, selection, development, and qualification as a member of the Source Selection team.
- Conduct Purchase Order review and processing including application of appropriate quality requirements to Purchase Orders and supplier Statements of Work per contractual terms.
- Perform Source Inspection onsite at suppliers to witness and review First Article Inspection and required testing.
- Review First Article Inspection (FAI) reports provided by suppliers for accuracy and compliance to requirements.
- Conduct supplier evaluation survey/audits; support third party evaluation of the suppliers QMS system including ISO 9001:2015, or AS9100D.
- Evaluate and track supplier capability and performance, including their Quality Management System (QMS); provide training for basic quality methodologies as necessary.
- Assess effectiveness and provide guidance to suppliers for root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action plans.
- Assist supplier review and interpretation of engineering drawings, specifications, standards, and contractual requirements.
- Take lead in resolving disposition of nonconforming product through the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- Prepare periodic reports, performance metrics and presentations describing supplier activities and progress.
- Perform tasks in other areas of Quality Assurance as may be assigned.
- Bachelors Degree in Quality Management, Engineering or related field with 6 years experience in Supplier Quality or equivalent.
- Masters Degree in Quality Mangement, Engineering or related field with 4 years experience in Supplier Quality or equivalent.
- Possess competency in Quality Core Tools such as Process Flow Diagrams, Failure Modes Effect Analysis. (FMEA), Control Plans, MSA (Gage Capability), Process Capability (SPC) and Error Proofing/Poke Yoke.
- Knowledge of and experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management System or other Industry QMS standards.
- Thorough understanding and experience with AS 9102 First Article Inspection or similar industry standard.
- Strong proficiency with analytical problem-solving methods and Root Cause Analysis – 8D, 5Why, Fishbone, etc.
- Experience in technical or manufacturing operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally, up to estimated 50%
- Must be able to work in both office and manufacturing plant environment without special accommodations.
- Proficient with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).
- Knowledge of and experience with AS 9100 Quality Management Systems Requirements for Aviation, Space, and Defense Organizations
- Knowledge of and experience with AS 9145 Requirements for Advanced Product Quality Planning and Production Part Approval Process
- Experience with the production of, and the finish machining of, steel and aluminum alloy castings and forgings for defense and aerospace applications.
- Experience with complex assembly processes.
