Construction Project Manager – Solar Storage
A well-capitalized and rapidly growing renewable energy developer is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join their Projects & Engineering team. This company has a strong national footprint with hundreds of distributed generation projects in operation and a multi-billion-dollar investment track record in the clean energy sector.
Role Summary: The Construction Project Manager will serve as the technical and commercial lead across the full project lifecycle — from early-stage site assessments through construction, commissioning, and handoff to operations. This role carries meaningful responsibility for both battery energy storage (BESS) and solar PV projects and requires someone equally comfortable in the field and in contract negotiations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed site assessments to evaluate viability, constructability, system capacity, and interconnection strategy
- Prepare and manage RFPs, contractor bid processes, and key EPC/design-procurement contracts
- Own project budgets (min. $5MM) and schedules from initiation through to operational handoff
- Ensure quality assurance compliance, either directly or through contracted Owner's Representatives
- Review electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural designs, calculations, and surveys
- Oversee environmental and land-use permitting, ensuring full regulatory compliance
- Manage inspections, commissioning, and system testing to confirm performance against engineering specifications
- Deliver concise status updates and reporting to senior leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
- 6 years of project execution experience, with at least 4 years in commercial or utility-scale solar PV or BESS project management
- Minimum 2 years of commercial/industrial battery energy storage (BESS) experience
- Familiarity with BESS permitting and fire prevention requirements
- Strong understanding of three-phase electrical systems and the NEC; medium-voltage experience a plus
- Proven ability to negotiate and manage engineering, procurement, and construction contracts
- NABCEP certification desirable but not required
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite; AutoCAD a plus
- Ability to travel, work on rooftops, and climb ladders as needed
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license
