Position Overview
The Field Service Engineer will be responsible for installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining automation and control systems at customer facilities throughout the Midwest region and beyond. This position requires a combination of hands-on technical expertise, strong problem-solving ability, and customer-facing communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, start up, and service automation and motion control systems at client sites.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues.
- Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service on customer equipment.
- Provide technical support, training, and documentation to customer maintenance teams and operators.
- Collaborate with internal engineering, design, and project teams to drive system improvements and customer satisfaction.
- Prepare detailed service reports and recommendations to enhance system reliability and performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent technical training/experience).
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in field service, automation, or motion control environments.
- Proficiency with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.), HMIs, motion systems, and control hardware.
- Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Proven troubleshooting skills across multi-disciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively (up to 70–80%).
