Senior Accountant
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to support the accounting, payroll, benefits, and employee onboarding functions of a growing organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, managing payroll processing, administering employee benefits, and assisting with onboarding activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are accurate and complete.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze account fluctuations and investigate variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
- Support external auditors and assist with annual audit preparation.
- Maintain compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Payroll Administration
- Process payroll accurately and timely for hourly and salaried employees.
- Maintain payroll records and employee compensation data.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee payroll inquiries.
Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans.
- Coordinate employee enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Reconcile benefit invoices and payroll deductions.
- Assist employees with benefits questions and open enrollment activities.
- Maintain accurate benefits records and documentation.
Onboarding & Employee Support
- Coordinate onboarding activities for new hires.
- Prepare employment documentation and payroll setup for incoming employees.
- Facilitate benefits enrollment and related employee communications.
- Maintain employee personnel records and confidential information.
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a seamless onboarding experience.
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Assist in strengthening internal controls and accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within accounting, payroll, and administrative functions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Participate in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with payroll processing and payroll-related reconciliations.
- Experience supporting employee benefits administration.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Salary : $85,000 - $95,000
