Position Summary
A growing organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance, while also serving as a key resource for multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience managing sales and use tax requirements, and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate account variances.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial reports and support management reporting requirements.
- Manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including filings and payments.
- Maintain exemption certificates and support sales tax audits.
- Research sales tax regulations and ensure compliance with changing requirements.
- Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Support external audits and prepare audit schedules as requested.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Multi-state sales and use tax experience required.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, distribution, or related industries.
- Experience managing sales tax audits and exemption certificates.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
- Experience with Avalara, Vertex, or similar tax compliance software is a plus.
Salary : $95,000 - $110,000
