Position Summary

A growing organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This role will be responsible for supporting the monthly close process, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance, while also serving as a key resource for multi-state sales and use tax compliance.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, experience managing sales and use tax requirements, and the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate account variances.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare financial reports and support management reporting requirements.
• Manage multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including filings and payments.
• Maintain exemption certificates and support sales tax audits.
• Research sales tax regulations and ensure compliance with changing requirements.
• Reconcile sales tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Support external audits and prepare audit schedules as requested.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 4 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Multi-state sales and use tax experience required.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis.
• Experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, consumer products, distribution, or related industries.
• Experience managing sales tax audits and exemption certificates.
• CPA or progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Experience with Avalara, Vertex, or similar tax compliance software is a plus.
