Project Accountant

About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join a growing team. This role is critical to supporting project teams by ensuring accurate financial tracking, reporting, and analysis across active construction projects. The ideal candidate brings experience in job costing, WIP reporting, and construction accounting, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project-level accounting for multiple active construction jobs
- Maintain and track job cost budgets, commitments, and actuals
- Prepare and update Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support percentage-of-completion accounting
- Monitor project costs, billings, and cash flow, identifying variances and risks
- Partner with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting
- Process and track subcontractor invoices, change orders, and lien waivers
- Support the monthly close process, including accruals and revenue recognition
- Assist with billing (AIA), collections, and client invoicing
- Reconcile project accounts and ensure data integrity within the ERP system
- Support audit requests and maintain proper documentation for compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based environments
- Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP, and percentage-of-completion
- Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g., Foundation, Sage 300 CRE, CMiC, Viewpoint) is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally
Salary : $75,000 - $110,000
